A wallcovering field guide

Before the paper meets the wall.

Use these notes to prepare a better first conversation. They are general installation guidance, not a promise about a specific room or material.

Wall preparation

Wallpaper can make unevenness more visible. Existing texture, holes, cracks, glossy paint, moisture concerns or old wallcovering may affect the preparation conversation. A smoother, sounder surface usually gives the pattern a better chance to read cleanly.

Material matters

Peel-and-stick, traditional papers, vinyls, murals and specialty wallcoverings can differ in handling, adhesive compatibility and repositioning. Have the product name, manufacturer instructions or a photo of the roll label ready if available.

Pattern matching

Repeats and motifs influence waste, starting points and how the design lands near doors, windows and corners. A dramatic mural may need a different layout conversation from a small repeat.

Seams and corners

Every room has transitions. Corners, outlets, trim and ceiling lines deserve attention before installation starts. Strong planning helps keep seams quiet and focal points intentional.

What to prepare

You can begin with the basics: project city, room type, approximate wall location, wallpaper or mural details if known, and the result you want. You do not need photos, measurements or a long description to make the first inquiry.

Questions, answered plainly

Useful before the estimate.

Still deciding what to ask? Start with the question that is most practical for your room.

Can you install wallpaper on a textured wall?

It depends on the texture, material and desired finish. Some surfaces need smoothing or additional preparation before a wallcovering can be considered ready.

Do you install murals and custom wallcoverings?

Designer, custom and mural wallpaper are among the services available. Share the material details so pattern layout and surface considerations can be discussed.

Can I ask about removal before installing something new?

Yes. Wallpaper removal is a separate service consideration and may be paired with wall preparation before a new wallcovering is installed.
